Pregnancy Symptoms
Wondering whether you’re pregnant can cause undue stress and anxiety. And while there are a number of symptoms that could indicate pregnancy, there isn’t one specific symptom that guarantees it. So if you’re experiencing one or more of the following symptoms, it’s a good idea to come in for an on-site pregnancy test.
Common early pregnancy symptoms include:
-
Missed or Delayed Period
A missed or delayed period is the most common early symptom of pregnancy. However, this could be misleading if you experience an irregular cycle, and a missed period could also indicate other health concerns.
-
Breast Tenderness
Breast tenderness or soreness is another common early pregnancy symptom and can be experienced as early as two weeks following conception. This occurs because of the sudden hormonal changes pregnancy causes.
-
Fatigue
During pregnancy, there is a drastic increase in progesterone, also known as the pregnancy hormone. The rapid increase of this hormone can cause you to feel overly sleepy early on.
-
Nausea With or Without Vomiting
Nausea can be experienced early on in pregnancy. It typically starts a month after conception and wanes after the first trimester. Some women experience severe nausea while others barely have any, so it really depends on the woman and the pregnancy.
-
Light Spotting or Cramping
A light amount of spotting, often less intense than period bleeding, is known as an early pregnancy symptom. This typically occurs within 10 to 14 days following conception, if it occurs at all, and happens as a result of the egg implanting into the uterine wall.
Other common pregnancy symptoms include:
- Moodiness
- Frequent urination
- Food cravings or aversions
- Bloating
